In this tutorial you will learn how to create a backup of your wordpress website free using Updraftplus Plugin.
Fisrt of all don’t risk to run a website or blog without backups. If your website or blog don’t have any backup then you are at the higher risk. Just imagine your website or blog get hacked, something goes wrong with your site with an update, your hosting company or server goes crashed. Your all hard work can lost.

Install UpdraftPlus Backup Plugin
To backup your wordpress website using updraftplus plugin, fisrt of all, open your wordpress dashboard go to “Plugins>> Add New”
Type “updraftplus” in plugins “search box” like following screenshot. Now click on “Install Now> Activate” button of the plugin.
After activation the plugin to click on “Settings>>UpdraftPlus Backups”, Check the following screen shot for help.
After click on “Settings>>UpdraftPlus Backups”, you will see a dashboard of plugin like following screenshot.
Create Backup Manually
Click on Backup Now Button to create backup of your website manually. After click on Backup now button here a PopUp will appear like following screenshot. Here You can see ” Include your database in the backup” and ” Include your files in the backup” check boxes. Tick both check boxes like following screenshot and click on “Backup Now” button
After click on “Backup Now” button requesting will start for a backup, like the following screenshot. It might be take few minutes to generate a backup for your website.
After creating the backup manually, you will see something like following screenshot. Here you can see five different backup files( Database, Plugins, Themes, Uploads, Others). You can download these files manually in your computer to save your website backup in your computer by clicking on the files. You can restore your backup by click on restore button. You can also upload your backup files from your computer by click on “Upload Backup files” link.
Configure Backup Schedule Auto or Manually
Go to settings on this plugin, and here you can set “File backup schedule” and “database backup schedule” auto[every 2,4,8,12 hours, Daily, Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly] or manually. After configure this scroll down the screen to “save changes”.
Configure Remote Store Location Google Drive
Updraftsplus plugin have many remote store options, you can choose anyone option from them, but i’ll choose Google Drive. Because, I think it is one of the best from all.
For this purpose click on google drive and scroll down down and now click on “save changes” button, Now you will see a popup like following screen shot. Now click on “Follow this link to authorise access to your Google Drive account (you will not be able to backup to Google Drive without it).” this link on popup.
Now you will see a something like following screenshot, here you can Choose an google account to continue to UpdraftPlus.
After choosing a google account, Updraftplus will ask for access to your google account, click on allow button.
After click to Allow to google account to Updraftplus, Now you will see something like following..
Here you can click on “complete setup” button. after click on this, you will be able to send your backups to google drive. To send your backups to google drive click on upload button, see the following screenshot for help…
